Tips from a dairy-free kitchen
- Milk can be substituted with:
- soy milk
- rice milk
- nut milk (e.g., almond milk)
- Cream substitutes:
- coconut milk (great in desserts!)
- soy creamer (caution: boiling causes curdling)
- Butter alternatives:
- Vegan margarine
- Dairy-free margarine
- Cheese substitutes:
- non-dairy "cream cheese"
- Vegan "cheese slices"
- Vegan "cheese"
Of course, you can also try non-cow's milk dairy products, to see if the issue is simply one of the type of milk you're ingesting.
