When it comes to milestones, my kid doesn't mess around
While Kara and I took a moment to relax on the couch this morning, she grabbed my finger, opened her mouth and stuck it inside. This is a behaviour which she used to engage in considerably in the past, but which recently subsided. She stuck my finger into the back of her mouth, presumably to massage a spot for her. It was only when I started feeling around that I noticed a hard protrusion at the lower-front and left of her gumline. A quick peek showed that what I felt was — in fact — Kara's long-awaited first tooth!
Then, as we were finishing up dinner, she decided to do some of this:
I hear that this sort of thing is a pretty big deal a video by flickr.ghanima on Flickr.

Yay Kara! You'll be chasing Logan by Mommy's birthday for sure. :P Sounds like the first tooth isn't giving her much trouble. When Logan cut his teeth he screamed bloody murder. Oh but doesn't it all happen at once! Logan's working on three upper teeth at present. He started using a spoon to shovel stuff into his mouth, and he's walking everywhere now. I gotta say they're A LOT faster on two limbs than four. We finally managed to get the MMR today. He's been healthy for two whole weeks! Next round of shots in another 5 weeks. He may not be a fan of teething pains, but he's a pro at taking needles, he protested during the injection but was fine once it was over.
Yay Kara!!!! Logan's got soem fierce competition!!!! :)
@Em: Oh God, she's going to get faster?! Matt and I were both surprised that there didn't seem to be a big fuss before cutting her first tooth. I'll take it, 'though. :)
I'm glad to hear that Logan has been well for long enough to be able to have a needle jabbed into him. That'll teach 'im. ;)
@Wanda: I'm clearly going to have to find a 100m dash race track.
Faster and stealthier. I'm almost tempted to have him wear his squeaky shoes in the house so I can hear where he is. Hehe, the verification word to submit my post sounds like something Logan would say. "Ouddehe"
Ooooh... can we set up a baby olympics?? :)
@notweasel That sounds like a great idea. Are you willing to host? I have to say after watching Logan with his cousin Brynn on the weekend the only sport that we may get to see will be the wrestling events. Brynn likes to hug, she'd hug Logan till he fell over. Then she'll push him down when he tried to get up again. Poor kid was out of sorts on account of his teeth, and mommy is telling him not to let Brynn push him around. It's hard for him to defend against a girl who is easily 5lbs heavier than he is. That girl is built like a tank!
Woohoo! Go Kara Go! :)
